Japan Airlines, IndiGo to launch codeshare partnership

Japan Airlines (JAL) and IndiGo have announced the codeshare partnership between the two airlines will start on December 16.


JAL announced the partnership will launch with the Tokyo-based carrier codesharing on domestic routes within India that connect to its flights to/from Delhi and Bengaluru. Then, the carrier plans to expand its connectivity in India, while offering IndiGo's customer more travel options on its domestic and international network in later phases.


The IndiGo domestic routes covered in the agreement include the following to/from Delhi and Bengaluru:


Delhi – Ahmedabad, Amristar, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata, Coimbatore, Kochi, Goa, Hyderabad, Leh, Lucknow, Chennai, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram, and Varanasi.


Bengaluru – Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Mumbai, Kolkata, Coimabtore, Kochi, Goa, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Chennahi, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram, Trichy, and Varanasi.


JAL operated routes covered in the agreement include: flights to Bangkok from Tokyo (Haneda/Narita), Osaka (Kansai), to Singapore from Tokyo (Haneda/Narita), its

daily flights between Haneda and Delhi, and five-times weekly Narita-Bengaluru flights.

This partnership will enable travelers between India and Japan to book their flights on a single ticket, enjoying the exceptional services of both IndiGo and Japan Airlines,” said Ross Leggett, Managing Executive Director, Senior Vice President Route Marketing, JAL. “India has seen remarkable economic growth in recent years, which is leading to a significant increase in air travel demand between Japan and India. 


According to JAL, customers can book travel on the codeshare flights starting December 4.
